Do You Have an Energy Leak?
Although it's a bright new day and the start of a brand new week, I woke up feeling tired and oddly "off."
Maybe I tossed and turned too much throughout the night, not falling into enough deep sleep cycles.
Perhaps I snored too much, impeding my ability to get enough refreshing rest. My husband regularly assures me this is the case.
Maybe all those wild dreams aren't conducive to a good night's rest.
Perhaps my brain at 3 AM says, "I can see you're trying to sleep, so I would like to offer you a selection of every memory, unresolved issue, or things you should have said or done today as well as in the past forty years!"

I don't know, but somehow this morning I feel I've had a huge energy leak.
Jesus was ultra-aware of and protective of his energy levels at all times. He was so in tune with his energy that once when a woman reached out and grabbed the hem of his clothing in the middle of a crowd, he turned around and asked, "Who touched me?" (Read the story in Luke 8:42b-48.)
His team of men were confused and astonished, for Jesus was being pushed and shoved and crowded my many. Frankly, the people were mobbing him.
He knew, though. He turned and faced the woman, who ultimately asked him to heal her. Her intense desire drew on his energy so that he could literally feel her faith.
Jesus was a master of the inflow and outflow of his energy. He was very careful how he used it and he replenished it when needed.
How are you with your energy reserves? Do you have leaks?
Lack of enough sleep, angry words, distractions, and tampering unnecessarily in others' business while neglecting our own all can cause harmful energy leaks in our daily lives.
Normal life requires a massive amount of energy to do it well and to accomplish those missions which God has given us. We must make it a priority to guard against unnecessary leaks from our energy reserves and to replenish our energy with daily stillness and time spent in the presence of our Lord and in his word.
Do you allow for enough rest and daily time with the Lord, our supplier of energy and all things? What energy leaks keep you from being focused? How do you replenish your energy reserve? How often?
